Structural steel,
detailed to the last bolt.
MBSI Detailing Ltd is an independent Tekla Structures drawing office, modelling and detailing structural steelwork for the UK's leading fabricators since 2007.
Built by drafters, still run by drafters.
MBSI was founded in 2007 in Leigh, Greater Manchester, after its founders saw an opportunity to service the steel industry with a sub-let Tekla drawing office. They brought professional values gained working for two of the leading fabricators in structural steel — five founding members with a combined 30 years of Tekla drawing and steelwork fabrication experience between them.
Today, three of the original founding members remain principals of the business. Every draftsperson is highly qualified, with backgrounds ranging from BTECs and ONCs through to BSc degrees in Civil Engineering, alongside hands-on major-fabricator experience.
Inception in Leigh, Greater Manchester — a sub-let Tekla drawing office built on experience from the industry's leading fabricators.
Moved into a fully serviced office to expand and offer a more client-friendly space, complete with meeting rooms.
Facilities continue to expand, with room to grow to up to 20 Tekla detailers on site.
Three founding members remain principals, leading a team qualified from BTEC to BSc Civil Engineering level.
A model, detail and design service, built around your programme.
Maintenance is always kept up to date, so we can offer clients any version of Tekla Structures to suit their requirements.
We offer a model – detail – design service where appropriate, tailored to what each project needs.
Out-of-office working can also be considered, whether that's within the UK or overseas.
Drawing on experience working for major fabricators, we offer proactive modelling to fast-track potential problems before they arise, and detailing solutions that help prevent delay.
Detailing for all complexities can be offered, from single small pieces through to fully welded trusses and frames — with consideration to the client and delivery programme.
Fabrication drawings are processed to a high level of detail, with consideration given to sub-assembly, fully welded items and single-piece assemblies.
Single parts and shaft drawings are produced with the same level of consideration as the main assembly drawings.
What we hold ourselves to, on every package.
We take the time to understand each client's requirements before modelling begins.
Committed to delivering our clients accurate, quality drawings, every time.
We aim to exceed our clients' expectations, not just meet them.
Programmes are closely monitored, with early feedback to clients on anything that could lead to delay.
The right team is put in place to make sure the programme and project are delivered.
Through consistent delivery, we've forged close working relationships with the UK's leading steel fabricators.
We know our service is measured by the relationships we build — and repeat business from leading fabricators is testament to that.
Beyond high-rise: a wide range of structures and disciplines.
While most of our work has been high-rise, MBSI diversifies across many disciplines of structural steelwork. Complex truss projects, petrochemical plant, power stations, and access and walkway detailing have all been carried out over the last ten years.
We also bring experience in major bridge schemes and architectural footbridges, and work in materials such as glulam and CLT as part of a diverse range of hybrid structures — modelled and detailed for large fabricators across the UK.
Working for new clients and structure types always brings a learning curve, and our longevity and repeat business in the industry is testament to overcoming it. We also bring vast Design & Build experience, undertaking modelling and co-ordination for major BCSA steel fabricators.
